The Haematology Laboratory is equipped with advanced equipment that allows the performance of basic and specialised blood and blood clotting tests.
This Department, in cooperation with clinical haematologists, handles the full haematological assessment of patients. This includes clinical investigation after taking the patient’s medical history, microscopical assessment of peripheral blood, evaluation in conjunction with imaging and lab data, performance and analysis of myelograms and bone marrow biopsies. This Department works closely together with the Microbiology Department, the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Genetics, and the Department of Flow Cytometry, operating at standards that are modern and scientifically sound. Treatment of haematological-oncological cases follows, handled by experienced doctors, distinguished haematologists and oncologists.
This Department also handles transfusion-related procedures around the clock as needed by our patients. To this end, it schedules, imports, maintains and provides blood and blood products from the collaborating Blood donation centre (Laiko Hospital of Athens).
This lab is ISO 9001 certified and successfully applies the quality management system. An internal control is carried out on a daily basis in accordance with international standards, while the lab also participates in external quality control Programmes.
