The Athens Bioclinic, following international trends in skeletal condition management, that is by minimally-invasive interventions, has established and fully developed the Minimally-invasive orthopaedic surgery unit.
The scientific team is led by Dr GEORGIOS PETSINIS MD, trained in arthroscopic surgery in Switzerland, with many years of experience in the National Health System and in private practice, in Greece and abroad.
The team is made up by experienced and well-respected orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthesiologists, cardiologists, internal medicine specialists and physiotherapists, who ensure the successful pre-operative, exploratory and post-operative management of patients.
The Minimally-invasive orthopaedic surgery and Sports medicine unit operates in the fully-equipped and soundly organised premises of the ATHENS BIOCLINIC, providing patients with medical and nursing care of the highest quality.
The Unit collaborates with corresponding scientific centres abroad and takes part in the evolution and implementation of new techniques and the use of new technologies in the field of minimally-invasive orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine.
By way of indication, the following procedures can be performed:
Arthroscopy of shoulder, knee, knee joint, whereby through small (5 mm) incisions, injuries such as torn meniscus, cruciate ligaments, shoulder rotator cuff, knee and ankle cartilage damage, etc, can be repaired fast.
Minimally-invasive spine surgery (MISS) Percutaneous bloodless kyphoplasty (immediate repair of osteoporotic vertebral fractures), 24h stay Hip / neck discoplasty (treatment of herniated disc by infusing a gel in the intervertebral disc), few hour stay
Total hip/knee arthroplasty, minimally-invasive, replacement of the joint through a small incision, minimisation of blood demand, immediate mobilisation of patient, 3 day stay.
