DEPARTMENT OF NEUROSURGERY
The department of neurosurgery deals with a broad spectrum of conditions of the brain, spinal cord and spine. All modern surgical techniques are used so as to treat these pathologies following global trends fully exploring the effectiveness of intervention, ensuring that patients receive the best outcome.
Surgical procedures are performed with the help of a surgical microscope (Zeiss – Pentero), endoscope (Storz), and modern surgical imaging (Phillips – Endura), neuromonitoring and neuronavigation systems.
The conditions treated:
• Benign and malignant tumors of the brain and spinal cord
• Endoscopic brain surgery to treat hydrocephaly and cerebrospinal fluid hydrodynamic disorders
• Conditions of the craniovertebral junction (tumors and injuries or similar lesions)
• Transoral access to the cranial base
• Complex conditions of the cervical region (degenerative disc disease, myelopathy, kyphotic deformities, fractures and space-occupying lesions
• Conditions of the thoracic and lumbar region of the spine (degenerative disc disease, tumors, injuries and imbalances such as spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis)
• Peripheral nerve conditions (carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve decompression, peripheral nerve neurofibromas)
