The urology department features modern equipment and excellently trained medical staff. Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that can be performed in this hospital cover the entire spectrum of urological conditions.
On a daily basis there are special clinics for the convenience of patients (prostate, erectile dysfunction and reproductive challenges, gynaecological urology, incontinence).
The urology department is responsible for the performance on a daily basis of the following diagnostic tests: urethrocystoscopy, ureteroscopy, ureteric cauterisation and ascending pyelogram, US-guided prostate biopsy, urodynamic study.
The urology department treats the following urological conditions::
- URINARY TRACT TUMORS
- Special emphasis is placed on oncology, by focusing on early diagnosis and prompt and proper treatment.
- All modern surgical oncology operations are performed:
- transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TUR-T),
- radical prostatectomy,
- radical cystectomy,
- radical nephrectomy,
- partial nephrectomy,
- radical nephroureterectomy,
- radical orchiectomy,
- radical penectomy.
We can perform open – transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR-P), either using the classical method, or the new, fast and safe TURis (transurethral resection in saline) method.
URINARY TRACT LITHIASIS
We can apply modern endourological techniques (ureterolithotripsy, cystolithotripsy) using lasers, resulting in the safe and effective destruction of stones, without the need of an open surgery.
URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS
Special emphasis is placed on early diagnosis aiming at proper treatment and prevention of relapse.
URINARY INCONTINENCE
This malfunction in filling or emptying the bladder is not always caused by urinary tract defects. It may also be the clinical manifestation of a neurological condition, injury or even a congenital abnormality.
The diagnosis of the type of incontinence is performed by urodynamics testing, which entails a painless and fast procedure mimicking urination.
Management of incontinence, in women by placing tapes and in men by placing an artificial sphincter, is available in our hospital. We can also treat cystocoeles and pelvic floor proptosis by placing a mesh.
ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION
Emphasis is placed on diagnosing and treating erectile dysfunction by medication or surgical treatment (placement of penile prosthesis). We can also perform plastic reconstruction of the penile curvature.
