Static and dynamic plantography
A plantography system is a diagnostic medical device that operates without radiation or radioactivity.
This device is a platform bearing 2,408 electronic sensors that can record either static or dynamic plantographic data.
It can be used for the analysis of data concerning gait and the assessment of balance.
In the static examination, the programme is set according to the percentage body weight distribution. It measures angles that are useful for an orthopaedic evaluation, by taking a 3D reading of the sole.
In the dynamic examination, the device analyses the different phases of the gait cycle, that is the stance phase, the loading response, maximum pressure, contact time and correlation between time and pressure. Athletes of all sports can benefit from this test.
Adult conditions
Indications in cases of adult deformities and conditions:
- Metatarsalgia
- Morton’s neuroma
- Anisomelia (limb length discrepancy)
- Pes planovalgus
- Heel spurs
- Scoliosis
- Congenital hip dislocation
- Diabetes mellitus (diabetic foot)
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Degenerative arthritis in foot, hip, knee joints
Children’s conditions
Indications in cases of children’s deformities and conditions:
-
- Pes valgus
- Flat feet
- Pes cavus
- Clubfoot
- Genu valgum
- Genu varum
- Inward – outward limb turning
- Anisomelia (limb length discrepancy)
- Neuromuscular disorders etc
Orthotic insoles
Based on the plantographic findings, special insoles can be made, which means that with diagnosis a solution to the problem is provided in the form of appropriate insoles.
To properly make the special orthotic insoles, a thorough and deep knowledge of the biology of lower limbs as well as the technology of insole manufacture are needed.
Plantography is indicated for both children and adults.
PLANTOGRAPHY IS INDICATED FOR:
- Individuals engaging in sports activities so as to improve their dynamic performance and limit any sports injuries of the lower limbs.
- Individuals that due to their daily routine feel their feet to be heavy and tired.
- Individuals with improper stance and gait.
- Children and adults.
Moreover, it is indicated for the evaluation of the surgical outcome in operations for the repair of the lower limbs (arthroplasty of the hip, knee, etc). Plantography is painless, short in duration, low-cost, and is performed on appointment with an orthopaedic specialist.
