The Pain clinic is the first of each kind in Greece to make frequent use of ultrasound technology so as to perform guided diagnostic and therapeutic infusions.
With the ultrasound-guidance, administration of local anesthetics is more safely done and the use of X-rays can be avoided in most cases.
Our vision
We aim not only to reduce pain but also to help the patient go back to satisfactory level of activity. From the first visit, we seek to build trust by dedicating time to the patient.
The visit length is without a doubt longer than what Greek patients typically expect. The aims of treatment and the means to accomplish them are extensively discussed; the patient can consult recent literature guided by the doctor.
Which are the most common painful situations managed?
- Headache – Neck pain
- Lumbago (chronic, acute)
- Myoskeletal pain – Osteoarthritis
- Acute and chronic post-operative pain
- Pain caused by diabetes or Parkinson’s disease
- Cancer pain
What are the tools used for pain management?
- Physical therapy (kinesiotherapy – physiotherapy)
- medication
- psychological support
- interventional techniques (epidural analgesia, intraarticular infusions, nerve blocks, ganglion blocks)
Every effort is made to avoid polypharmacy. We wish and ensure that our patients leave the clinic with instructions to take as few medicines as possible. This can be realised by optimising the prescribed medication and recommending a way of living that is more friendly to the body (exercise, proper hydration and diet). Fewer drugs means fewer side effects and lower treatment cost.
