DEPARTMENT OF ENDOSCOPY
The gastroenterology department of the Athens Bioclinic is supported by the medical teams (1st and 2nd departments of gastroenterology), staffed with experienced and capable gastroenterologists, who can see to the examination and hospitalisation of patients with gastroenterological problems.
The respective endoscopy labs are supported by the latest technology in equipment, including:
Side-viewing endoscopes (duodenoscopes)
Manometry devices, pH meters for oesophagus – Capsule endoscopy
Haemostasis devices (Argon plasma coagulation)
Safety & Reliability
Using this equipment, we are in the position to perform safely, reliably and effectively almost all diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology procedures.
GI endoscopy has become a standard way to investigate many conditions. The ability to intervene therapeutically through endoscopy in many conditions has provided valuable help in their non-surgical management.
Based on data from international literature, colonoscopy is today regarded as the screening modality of choice within schemes for the prevention of cancer in the large intestine, early detection of precancerous conditions (polyps) and the ability to offer simultaneous treatment.
The following procedures are performed on a daily basis:
Upper and lower GI endoscopies (gastroscopies, colonoscopies)
GI stenosis dilations
Placement of GI stents
24h pH metering of oesophagus
Oesophageal manometry for chest pain of non-cardiac origin, oesophageal motility disorders (achalasia), etc
