In recent years, otolaryngology has been changing rapidly. New technologies have introduced endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery and have improved ear and throat microsurgery. At the same time they have provided new focus to cosmetic surgery for the nose (rhinoplasty), salivary gland surgery and surgical techniques used for the head and neck.
Otorhinolaryngology is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose and throat diseases, as well as with all health issues in the area of the head and neck, in children and adults.
In response to the needs of otorhinolaryngology, Bioclinic hospitals have established ENT departments in accordance with the most sophisticated international standards. These are equipped with state-of-the-art technological equipment, both in the outpatient department and in the operating rooms, and staffed with highly trained medical and nursing personnel.
DEPARTMENT’S ACTIVITIES
All ENT surgeries are performed using the most technologically advanced equipment and applying endoscopic, as well as laser microsurgery techniques.
- Endoscopic surgery
Over the last years, it is used to effectively treat sinusitis and all nasal and sinus inflammations. Endoscopic surgery can also permanently remove nose polyps. - Septoplasty
This is known as septum surgery. A deviated septum, which can be either congenital or the result of injury, adversely affects nasal breathing. - Rhinoplasty
This is considered the most popular and perhaps most difficult cosmetic surgery. Our specialisation and extensive experience in microsurgery and laser applications allow us to achieve the desired result with the utmost accuracy, even in the most challenging cases. Rhinoplasty and septoplasty can be performed at the same time. - Vocal fold microsurgery
This is state-of-art surgery of the larynx and in particular of the vocal folds. This method allows us to treat polyps, cysts, nodules, granulomas, papillomas, leukoplakia, oedema, polypoid degeneration, haemangiomas, and small laryngeal tumors. - Surgery for snoring
The most effective treatment against snoring today is laser or radiofrequencies. - Parotidectomy – Salivary gland surgery
To achieve ideal results, we apply the principles of microsurgery by enlarging the operating field and using a special device to identify and monitor the facial nerve. The final step is plastic restoration of the area to maintain facial symmetry. - Amygdalectomy
We apply a specific technique to prevent bleeding and minimise post-op pain. - Tympanoplasty
This is a microsurgical operation to restore eardrum conditions with excellent results. - Surgery for chronic otitis media
This is performed to treat all forms of chronic otitis and cholesteatoma, which can destroy the ear. - Surgery for otosclerosis
This is a highly specialised microsurgical operation, which requires absolute surgical accuracy and skills. The success rate of this operation in our hospital is 100% in almost all cases. - Surgical treatment of head, larynx and neck and plastic restoration of the area.
The outpatient ENT department is open daily and offers the following services:
• Clinical ENT examination
• Microscopic examination
• Endoscopy of ears, nose, nose and throat, throat, larynx, using flexible and non-flexible endoscopes
